Alumni & Friends

David M. Wilson Affiliates

Hello! Welcome to the alumni page for graduates of the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The David M. Wilson Affiliates (DMWA), the alumni and friends support group for the department, is very proud to host this page.

The DMWA is dedicated to supporting our students and the department in memory of former Department Chair David M. Wilson (pictured above) who gave so much to the students and the department during his many years at USC.

The purpose of the DMWA is to provide scholarships to both undergraduate and graduate students. We work hard to continue Professor Wilson’s legacy to provide financial assistance to all hardworking and very deserving civil and environmental engineering students.

As we grow in numbers, we will be able to provide greater outreach to our alumni, as well as provide even greater support for more students and programs. We are in an excellent position to identify various internships available to our students and share with them valuable information about how to pursue those opportunities.

We are hopeful to be able to continue to provide this same advice on full-time employment opportunities in the future.

These are exciting times at DMWA and we look forward to you joining us in our support of the Sonny Astani Department.

On behalf of the DMWA, thanks for stopping by,
Stephen Dopudja and Edgar Dymally

The David M. Wilson Story

The David M. Wilson Story

The David M. Wilson Affiliates (DMWA) was founded in 1959 by a group of civil engineering alumni who felt a loyalty to Professor David M. Wilson for his untiring devotion to the University of Southern California and his civil engineering students. As the longtime chairman of the Civil Engineering Department, Professor Wilson assisted numerous students to the point of drawing from his own funds to aid needy students.

In fact, Professor Wilson gave so generously that upon his retirement, he had little left to live on. His former students came to his aid and assisted the man who had been so important in their careers. When Professor Wilson passed away, the DMWA turned their energy and financial support to the Civil Engineering Department and became one of the first philanthropic support groups at USC.

To this day, DMWA continues to offer financial aid to civil and environmental engineering students. Thousands of engineers have benefited from the tremendous engineering education they received at USC thanks to the generousity of alumni who came before them. DMWA members help to ensure that these same opportunities exist for future generations of Trojans.

DMWA members also regularly meet with fellow USC Engineering alumni at culteral and social events that are held throughout the year.

The David M. Wilson Affiliates would like to invite you to continue the Trojan tradition of alumni actively supporting students in their academic opportunities and achievements. We want you to join the David M. Wilson Affiliates!

As a member, you will be invited to various David M. Wilson Affiliates social events and other activities where you can meet other civil engineering supporters, as well as a few of the students who have benefited from your generosity. A small yearly gift is all we ask (for the newest class of CE alumni membership for the first year is FREE!). Gifts to the DMWA will go towards supporting the CE department and its students.

Annual Giving at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering

Annual Giving is the support we receive each year from our alumni and friends. The gifts we receive, no matter the size, provide an immediate and meaningful impact on the lives of our students. From providing them with access to the best engineering faculty to backing transformational research to establishing scholarships and fellowships, donations make a difference to students like Linnea, Miles, Avri and Josh in the video above.

Make a gift

Giving Levels:
