CEE sophomore David Palafox was awarded an academic scholarship by the Simpson Strong-Tie Company. The scholarship ($2,000), one of about 100 awarded for the 2022-2023 academic year, was established to assist architecture, structural and civil engineering and construction management students through support of education and encouragement of the design and building of safer structures in our communities.

Said Palafox, who is studying civil engineering (with a structural engineering emphasis) at USC Viterbi: “This scholarship means a lot to me, as it gives me a boost and support to pursue and achieve the goals I want to achieve in the field of civil engineering. I am most interested in impacting and advancing the field of structural engineering. I see it as vital to a functioning infrastructure, which in turn supports entire communities.”
