Yen Fellowship Awarded to Lily Shi

Lily Shi, a Ph.D. student advised by Professor Daniel McCurry, receives the 2019 Teh Fu “Dave” Yen Fellowship in Environmental Engineering. Her research is focused on understanding the fundamental chemistry of ozone oxidation of stimulant drugs that enter wastewater from human use and how these drugs can be transformed into potentially harmful byproducts. A long-term goal of this research is to identify engineering solutions to wastewater reuse challenges that will enable significant energy reductions in water treatment and supply.
