Featured Research Assistant for February 2017: Mo Chen

 

Mo Chen

Mo Chen is a PhD student in environmental engineering, co-advised by Dr. Kelly Sanders and Dr. George Ban-Weiss. His research lies in the intersection of the energy sector, Urban Heat Islands, and climate. Currently, he is working on understanding the role of urban heat islands in affecting residential electricity consumption through high spatiotemporal resolution observations and models.

Mo was born and raised in China. Before coming to USC, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science at Xiamen University and Master’s degree in Environmental Science at Peking University. He started pursuing his Ph.D. in Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Fall 2015 and expects to graduate in 2020. In the year 2016-2017, Mo is the recipient of the The Fu “Dave” Yen Fellowship in Environmental Engineering.

In his spare time, Mo loves road trips, movies, and all cross-cultural topics and activities. He always dreams of enjoying beautiful sceneries and delicious food all around the world.
