USC engineering professor Najmedin Meshkati was featured in an article on Air Transport World on October 1, 2011. Meshkati commented on the Air France flight 447 crash on June 1, 2011, killing around two hundred people. Meshkati notes how the pilots were not properly trained on how to handle a stall station. Mechkati recommended changes in the pilot training program, so accidents, such as the Air France flight 447 crash, will not happen again. Meshkati is an aviation safety expert and recently just taught a course to pilots from all over the world. Meshakti commented on their reaction, "This article got lots of traction all over the world...all these guys have read it before coming to my class!" Meshkati received his Masters in Engineering Management and PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from USC.
